HICT Welcomes New Vessel With 12,000 TEU and 132,000 TEU Routing Through Trans-Pacific to the West Coast of USA

As terminal operations and management have become more efficient, HICT terminal welcomes new services deployed by mother vessels with increased capacity and deadweight.

The maiden call of mother vessel Northern Jaguar was welcomed on 13 April 2019, with a handling capacity of 8814 TEU, deadweight of 108 731 DWT, a LOA of 334m, and routing on PN2 service. This service is operated by THE ALLIANCE between Hapag Lloyd, Ocean Network Express and Yang Ming Line on trans-pacific route with a regular call at HICT, supplying a direct service from North Vietnam to Tacoma (U.S.A) and Vancouver (Canada). In comparison to the previous route calling at overseas transshipment hubs, lead time from Haiphong to the west coast of the U.S.A and Canada is reduced from 25 days to 17 days.

HICT terminal has introduced the call of mother vessel Wan Hai 805 on 7 May 2019. The new mother vessel holds a capacity of 11 923 TEU, deadweight of 132 000 DWT, and is LOA of 330m. Direct service from North Vietnam to the west coast of U.S.A. is provided by a consortium between Wan Hai Lines (Taiwan), Cosco Shipping Lines (China), Pacific International Lines (Singapore) on CP1/SEA/AC5 service with a regular call at HICT. A rotation along HICT – Nanshan – Hong Kong – Yantian – Long Beach – Oakland reduces the lead time from Haiphong Vietnam to the west coast of the U.S.A from 25 days to 19 days.

Congratulations HICT on this great achievement! With much gratitude, we would also like to thank you for choosing our TOPS Expert to run and manage your terminal operations and cannot wait to witness more accomplishments in the upcoming future.

Saigon New Port (SNP) terminals had reported a record-breaking container throughput for 2018. The container throughput for 2018 was with 7.5 Million TEUs, which gives SNP terminals an annual average growth of 13.28% per year. The significant increase of 1.6M TEUs to well over 7.5M TEUS last year with a current daily gate operation exceeding 17,000 trucks in/out of the terminal has made SNP the largest container terminal operator in Vietnam. The import-export container throughput of SNP has accounted for more than 90% of the market share in Ho Chi Minh City area and nearly 50% Vietnam wide.

For more than ten years, SNP is a customer of RBS, running the RBS TOPS solution. Congratulations to SNP on achieving such a grand breakthrough in 2018 and we are glad you have chosen RBS as your TOS to power your terminal.
