{"id":5750,"date":"2020-01-09T00:13:55","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T00:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rbs-tops.com\/glossary\/edifact-electronic-data-interchange-for-administration-commerce-and-transport\/"},"modified":"2020-01-09T00:13:55","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T00:13:55","slug":"edifact-electronic-data-interchange-for-administration-commerce-and-transport","status":"publish","type":"glossary","link":"https:\/\/rbs-tops.com\/vn\/glossary\/edifact-electronic-data-interchange-for-administration-commerce-and-transport\/","title":{"rendered":"EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rbs-emea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/EDI-v1_1_rbs_emea-300x300.png\" alt=\"EDI-v1_1_rbs_emea\"\/>EDIFACT stands for Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unece.org\/cefact\/edifact\/welcome.html\">UN\/EDIFACT<\/a>) and is the international EDI standard developed under the supervision of the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>The EDIFACT standard provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A set of syntax rules to structure data<\/li>\n<li>An interactive exchange protocol (I-EDI)<\/li>\n<li>Standard messages which allow multi-country and multi-industry exchange.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The work of maintenance and further development of this standard is done through the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN\/CEFACT) under the UN Economic Commission for Europe, in the Finance Domain working group UN CEFACT TBG5.<\/p>\n<p>Within the shipping and terminal industry, EDIFACT messages are ensuring a standardized data exchange and information flow (inbound and outbound messages) between the shipping lines and the terminals\/ports.<\/p>\n<p>Terminal efficiency depends &ndash; amongst others &ndash; in particular on the timely information about the cargo\/the containers to be handled.
