Container Freight Station (CFS)

The CFS is where (at the customer’s request) a container is stripped, and the cargo is separated into individual customer lots whereby the customer picks up the cargo. Some terminals operate a CFS and customers pick-up their cargo from the terminals otherwise the container is delivered by a Freight Forwarder to a CFS outside the terminal where the container is stripped.

The customer delivers the cargo to the terminal and it is packed into a container in the CFS area. Also, when a customer has a small amount of cargo that will not fill a container, they can opt to have their goods to a CFS where it will be consolidated into a container with other customers cargo assigned to the same destination.
